Sound & Spirit is delighted to announce the artistically robust and marvelously edgy 14th Season and the exploration of its dynamic theme: Identity! On Wednesday, September 4th, S&S opens its doors to begin rehearsals for their holiday concert celebration, “Voices of the Season: A Festive Choral Concert,” at the First Congregation Church on December 13th and 14th. S&S will also start preparations for its mainstage spring production, “What’s My Name?” at Natick High School in early May.
What’s my name? What’s in a name? Families are connected by a name, friends can be connected through nicknames. Some names are handed down as a tradition - a thread connecting us to our history, our family story, our culture.
At birth, we are given our names. Sometimes we choose the name by which we want to be known: we go by our middle name rather than our first, we may change our name by taking a spouse’s surname, we may choose a new first name, whether a version of a given name or a name that we feel fits better.
No matter, names are important. They say something about who we are, who we are connected to, and they are one way in which we are known.
